Adding to the ongoing giving still needed to support rebuilding efforts after the tragedy in Uvalde, TX., the Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation is excited to announce that it has received another high-profile pledge – this time, a $10,000 gift from The Kelly Clarkson Show. The donation, which Kelly Clarkson announced on a recent episode of the show, will aid the 501(c)3 charitable foundation in its mission to help collect funding for a new elementary campus in Uvalde, the nonprofit’s initial priority.
The Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation continues to seek contributions to support its efforts to help fund the new elementary campus. All funds donated to the Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation will initially go toward building the new campus, which will include state-of-the-art security measures and enhanced educational offerings. Donations to the foundation are tax-deductible. Those wanting to help and donate by visiting UvaldeCISDMovingForward.org. Details for alternative ways to give to the foundation also are available on the website.
Planning for the campus is in the beginning stages, and the foundation will work in tandem with the school district, the Uvalde community, donors, and other stakeholders through a series of community meetings to listen and gather feedback for the elementary campus and any future projects.
While additional donations are still needed to help fund the project, the nonprofit has received several major gifts from organizations. Among the founding donors are the Butt Family and H-E-B, which announced a combined $10 million commitment, and Huckabee and Joeris, two Texas firms who will provide in-kind services for the design and construction of the school.
“Along with the entire Uvalde community, we are deeply grateful for this gift from The Kelly Clarkson Show,” said Charles Clines, Board President for the Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation. “Their generosity along with the support from all donors who have given to this effort will help the children, families, staff, and Uvalde CISD community move forward together. We appreciate all our donors but continue to seek donations to help get us over the finish line. Thank you to everyone for the unyielding support our community continues to receive from across Texas, the nation, and the world.”
Built-in the 1960s, Robb Elementary School served nearly 550 students in grades second through fourth. The school has been permanently closed, and while a timeline hasn’t been determined, plans are in place for the school to be razed, ensuring students and staff will not have to return to the building at the site of the tragedy.
