October fundraising events raise $1.5 Million

Hope Blooms in Uvalde campaign

Thanks to generous hosts and donors, October fundraising events in Ft. Worth and Houston have raised more than $750,000 for the construction of the new Legacy Elementary School campus in Uvalde CISD. These funds immediately became $1.5M thanks to the Kate Marmion Charitable Foundation Match Challenge!

“My biggest goal was to disrupt the trajectory of what happens in communities that have mass tragedies,” Ashley Chohlis, superintendent of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District shared, explaining that the aftermath usually brings mental health issues. “Bringing hope to this community is very important to me.”

Thank you to the North Texas Community Foundation for hosting the Ft. Worth event,  and George and Laura Pontikes for hosting the Houston event.
