UVALDE, TX (April 17, 2023) – During a Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District school board meeting on the evening of April 17, 2023, the school board approved the full schematic renderings for the new elementary school as recommended by the Uvalde CISD Community Advisory Committee.
“The Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation is honored to begin the next phase of our work to build a new elementary school in the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District. With this evening’s approval of the schematic design by the UCISD school board, we now move to the initial phases of the construction phase through the creation of construction documents,” said Tim Miller, Executive Director of the Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation. “We anticipate groundbreaking to happen in mid to late summer of this year.”
The full schematic renderings presented to the UCISD school board are a result of the committed work of individuals from the Uvalde community serving on the Community Advisory Committee along with representatives from Huckabee Architects, Inc that began last fall. The design process was also informed by design charette meetings with students, campus staff, district departments, law enforcement, and emergency responders. A gallery of the images from the schematic renderings is below.
The Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation continues to raise funds for the construction of the new elementary school. To date, nearly 70 percent of the Foundation’s goal of $60 million has been raised. Those wanting to donate can visit www.uvaldecisdmovingforward.org/donate-now.
In the wake of the tragedy at Robb Elementary School, the Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation was established to help collect funding for the construction of a new elementary campus in the Uvalde CISD. With support from generous donors, funds raised will help the children, families, and staff of the Uvalde CISD community move forward together.
